Aggressive Cat Behaviour
At the moment if you are having aggressive cat behaviour then I might be able to give you a hand Aggressive cat behaviour started to happen in my house when my 2 cats just started being strange one day. I did not have a clue at the start what made them like this so went and investigated. Through trial and error I found some amazing tips on cats who have aggressive behaviour.
Start On It Today - The thing is with aggressive cat behaviour is that there is obviously a problem somewhere in the home that the cats are not happy with. If you sort this out quick it will stop you getting further stress about it down the road. If you get it sorted now I promise you will thank yourself for it 100 times over.
What To Do? - Cats are very territorial animals and like a stable environment where everything remains the same. Think to yourself what has changed in the house recently? What could be contributing to the stress? I find things like moving furniture around too much or a stressful environment can actually rub off on the cats. Do you change their litter tray enough, do they get affection from you often? Attempt to make everything better again in the previously mentioned areas and most of the time things will be great again in 4 weeks at the maximum.
Pain And Pleasure - As well as giving your cat pleasure for good things you have to make sure that they know aggressive cat behaviour is not acceptable at all. A good idea is to use pain and pleasure together in what I and others call the pain pleasure approach.
As soon as your cat starts showing aggressive behaviour you have to reprimand it. If you get a water bottle and squirt the cat or smack a couple of pots together or shout the cat will become startled What is really essential here is that you make sure that the cats are actually not seeing you do it or they will still be aggressive, just not when you are there..
Looking at it through the other lens you must give rewards when they behave good and not aggressively If your cats are behaving in a good manner then treat them in the way you know they like to be treated. This can be stroking or a food treat for example. Or maybe even a new toy. Each cat is different. It is really essential to give them respect straight away with pleasure though as this starts to ingrain the habit.
If you keep up this routine your cat will learn in its mind that aggressive behaviour will not give it what it wants. The worse that could happen is things stay the same. What's the worse that could happen?
