For teaching your kitten to use a litter box as opposed to your lovely carpet doesn't have to be a tough task as well. Kittens naturally have it in them to bury their feces so unless you want them scratching holes in your wood or in your carpet, you will want to buy a litter box.

If you see your kitten hunting in corners or crouching, that is a sure sign that they need to go. Immediately put your kitty in its litter box and it will teach them to go there first. If you start a routine of putting your kitten in the litter box as soon as you get up, it will teach them a pattern. One of the major things to remember is to constantly clean out the litter box. Kittens don't like to be dirty.
