Story of two kittens' introduction - (Once separated and introduced again)
Having a new cat in the house always makes the old owner get nervous. Because we can't communicate and let them know that they are going to be our close friends. We also get frustrated and without having a proper understanding of their behavior, case can get worse with us. (But not with them)
Let me tell you a real world story here.
Let me tell you how my two new kittens managed to build a relationship after their introduction. I must say that I completely failed to do the introduction, though they managed to come out with flying colors.
We intended to get a kitten from a house where there were two of them and they were siblings. They were like real good friends. Playing, eating and even sleeping together. So we brought one of those beautiful kittens and we named her "Lucky" (She is a perfect match for her name). First day I kept her near my bed and I couldn't sleep all-night cause she kept crying and looking for the other kitten and her mother to get wormed up. So we decided to get other kitten so we decided to get other kitten also. It took several weeks to put it in to action. By that time, Lucky had much settled down in my room. Playing with toys and running here and there capturing hearts of all the family members.
When we bought new kitten home (she was named Happy) I expected a real worm welcome from Lucky. But for my surprise and disappointment they behaved like complete strangers and hissed at each other. (Today I know that it's a complete normal reaction of two cats getting introduced). Lucky even left my room making me more frustrated. She was truly jealous of the new comer, and the new comer had to adjust to a completely new environment.
But slowly they got curious about each other, and Lucky slowly started to get close to Happy. After little hissing and so on, they even started to eat from the same bowl (Maybe Lucky thought that I was giving much tastier food to the new comer-J).
One cold day, I was amazed by seeing my old kitten slowly coming to new kittens bed and sleeping touching her to get worm. From that day, everything started to get better and better. They started playing and shared their toys too. For a little time they were feared of each other, but then they became great friends till today. Now I know cats love to have another cat in their house when they are used to each other. Now I don't have to do much playing with them to keep them healthy and energetic as they do it all day long with each other.
If you wish to have a new cat in your home, go ahead and do that. Your old cat(s) would love that sooner or later. But remember this could cause stress in your cats. Now I know there is much easier ways to introduce new cats without causing you and cats any stress. So before you are bringing new cat to your home, do some research in internet and you will find tons of information about introducing cats. And that will make the whole experience lovable to all the parties.
About my two kittens Happy and Lucky, they are happier and luckier than ever today.
